Latest News: The Klondike Folk Arts Song Competition

We are delighted to tell you that The Klondike Folk Arts Song Competition FINAL took place recently at The Kirby Fleetham Folk Club Big Birthday Bash. The winner was Jim Radford with his song The Merchant Seamen - a tribute to The Merchant Seamen who took part in the two World Wars and on whom we all rely daily for much of our worldly goods.
Jim was winner of the Seafest heat held last July during the festival. The two runners up in the Song of the Year Final were Wendy Arrowsmith with The Hearth Song and Pete and Jools Thomson with Jack and Jill.Both excellent songs.
The KFA Song Competition takes place annually with heats at Ryedale Folk Weekend - Hutton le Hole (May), Seafest - in Scarborough (July) and Osmotherley Gathering (Sept). Entries are being accepted for next years event.
